  • Burlington, VT

We had such a great time in Burlington celebrating our fourth anniversary!  Hard to believe it's been that long!  We visited lots of fun places and relaxed a lot.  It was fun to take it at our own pace.  I'll post pictures soon, probably on Facebook but I'll put a link to the album here (you don't need Facebook to see them)

  • Indulge me for a bit...

Today was a beautiful day!  We went to church in the morning and then spent the afternoon at the campsite with my in laws and nephew.  That was a lot of fun!  I just gotta talk about this boy a bit, he was so funny today.  He is 23 months and is just so much fun now.  It's neat because up until a few months ago when he saw Chad and I there was an adjustment period before he would interact with us at all.  Now, he knows us as soon as he sees us and actually seems happy to see us and play with us!

He loves things that do something, remotes, cell phones, or when outside, cars.  He loves to sit in the car (or truck) and push buttons, steer, flip levers (windshield wipers, directionals, etc).  I think most boys are like that.  So we did that a few times, we played in the sand (got pretty dirty)

Today I got to hear him say a lot more words.  His language is really picking up!  In the past I knew he could say some but I had not heard much, today I got to hear a lot of words, which was really neat.  He said "What's that?" a lot, which was funny.

After dinner he got to have an ice cream cone, it was chocolate ice cream in a cake cone, which he immediately bit the bottom of and was quickly covered in chocolate.  He then proceeded to wander around the campsite while still eating.  We made sure he didn't touch much but he did touch my mother in law's car handle (see above...) and covered it in chocolate.  We just sat and watched him, cracking up the whole time!  He was just happy as a clam walking around outside with his ice cream cone (eating it mostly from the side, making a huge mess).  At one point he picked up a leaf and then tried to shake it off because it was stuck to his very sticky hand!

So that leads me to the real reason I decided to blog about Ethan.  While wandering around with his ice cream cone he saw Chad get up and said "Uncle Chad!"  At first he all heard it and said "Did he just say Uncle Chad?" but then he decided to follow Chad and repeated it two or three more times.  So it's official, Ethan said Uncle Chad before Auntie Michelle... I would have even settled for just Auntie!  Oh well, it'll come in time, it was very sweet to hear him say Uncle Chad anyway.
